Supporting Victims of Domestic Violence

by Amy McCandless, Director of Development

Established in 1985, the Crisis Center serves adults and children impacted by domestic violence.  Our services include a 24-hour crisis line, emergency shelter, individual and group therapy, legal advocacy, and community-based advocacy, as well as outreach and education to the general community.  All of our services are confidential, free of charge and meet best practices of trauma-informed care.  We serve approximately 400 clients each year in our direct service programs, with more than 25% of adults utilizing more than one Crisis Center service.  Additionally, we receive approximately 1,200 calls to our crisis line and reach nearly 4,000 community members through our outreach, education, and prevention activities.  Our impact is positive, with an overall client satisfaction of 94%.  Specifically of note, 95% of clients report knowing more ways to plan for their safety and 91% stating their overall emotional health and well-being have improved.

We are grateful for the partnership with The Indigo Oak Fund in support of our legal advocacy program, as well as our Immediate Client Need Fund.  Their support has provided essential funds for clients facing unexpected, emergency needs including rental assistance, utility payments, car repair, new tires, medication, and childcare.  Additionally, their support of our legal advocacy program has allowed our clients to pay for court expenses, attorney fees, and associated costs for those going through the legal system.  We look forward to an ongoing relationship and appreciate their dedication to those we serve.
